Jared started his career with MJLF in 2015 in the Stamford office working on the Crude Spot desk. In 2017 Jared moved to Texas to help launch the Houston office and expand MJLF’s presence in the emerging US energy market. Jared became a partner of MJLF in 2020, he now prioritizes most of his time on the America’s spot Aframax/Suezmax markets with a focus on USG exports.

Jared holds a B.S. in Business Management and Agricultural Resource Economics from the University of Maryland College Park. Outside of shipping, he enjoys surfing, golfing, working out, traveling and spending time with his Wife Ali.

Lucas joined MJLF in 2015. Originally from Brazil, Lucas graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 2011 with a B.S. degree in both International Business and Business Management. He started his ship brokering career as an intern with McQuilling which led to a projects broker position with Maersk Broker, where he worked for 3 years before making the switch to MJLF. His main focus is on spot/time charters in the dirty market.

Joined MJLF back in 2015 on the spot CPP desk. Prior to joining MJLF, Daniel worked at Poten & Partners on the spot CPP desk for over a year and before that spent about a year in operations. He received a bachelors in International Transportation and Trade from SUNY Maritime College in 2012. He is currently working out of the Houston office. Daniel enjoys his free time on the golf course and with his family.

Mac attended Nichols College and the Masters evening program at SUNY, (Tanker Operations and Management and Admiralty Law). After 12 years as a partner at Poten and Partners in New York City, Mac worked with Seabrokers and Odin Marine, Inc. in Connecticut. In 1996 he joined MJLF as a senior spot broker covering the suezmax and vlcc sectors.  In 2004, Mac moved to the MJLF projects department, where he continues to be an integral part of our time charter and new building team.

Bruce Holzberg has over 35 years of experience in the shipping brokerage industry.  Bruce has spent his career involved in the Jones Act shipping market with a specialty in tanker brokerage for domestic tonnage involving both clean and dirty moves.  Bruce held various broker roles at Dietze Inc before joining MJLF in 1993. Bruce became a Partner of MJLF in 2000 and has held various management roles within MJLF focused on research, analysis, and training and developing new brokers and starting new brokerage desks.  Bruce has recently focused his time on period negotiations with several major oil companies and refiners and has concentrated on special projects and reports dealing with the recent industry trends.

Bruce holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nautical Science from the US Merchant Marine Academy.  Bruce enjoys travel and sports and is an active volunteer for various community nonprofits.

Tim launched his career with MJLF working on the VLCC and Suezmax desks with a focus on the Far Eastern markets, where he developed relationships working out of Seoul, Korea.  After returning to the States, Tim successfully expanded MJLF’s spot market business into the Pacific Basin Market.  Tim focuses most of his time on the West Coast markets, while still executing deals in the global markets from Panamax to VLCC’s.

In 2011, Tim became the youngest partner at MJLF.  Prior to MJLF, Tim was a Marine Engineer on both commercial and private vessels, working his way up to a Chief Engineer on two modern superyachts in the chartering sector.  Tim held a USCG First Engineers, unlimited horsepower license, and was commissioned as an officer in the USNR. He holds a B.S. in Marine Engineering from Kings Point, NY and an MBA from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.  Tim’s hobbies range from snowboarding, various workouts, and eclectic tastes in music, and he enjoys spending majority of time with his wife, Sarah, their two kids and golden retrievers.

Banc has over 25 years of experience in the shipping brokerage industry across a broad group of products and services... Banc launched his career at Capital Shipbrokers out of London before joining MJLF in 1995.  Banc moved across various desks including CPP, Crude and DPP before being promoted in 2004 to launch the Geneva Switzerland office.  Banc spent 5 years helping build out the international footprint for MJLF focusing on European Oil majors and traders.  In 2009 Banc returned to the US to strengthen and manage the Crude Spot Desk where he now spends his time on spot and time charter requirements. In 2009 he joined the Board of directors where he plays an active role in setting the firm’s strategy and vision.

Banc enjoys skiing, fishing and coaching youth hockey and lacrosse. He holds a BA in International Economics from Middlebury College.

Chris is Partner and a Board Member of MJLF. Chris has over 25 years of international shipping experience having worked across Asia, Europe and the United States on the charterer, owner and broker sides of the business.

After launching his career in Singapore in 1995 working for an owner, Chris moved to the brokerage side with Clarkson.  He started in Asia focusing on crude and dpp markets east of Suez and then transferred to London where he worked on the VLCC and Suezmax desk.  After Clarkson, Chris joined Koch Supply and Trading London as Freight Trader covering MR-VLCC DPP and Crude markets in the Europe, West Africa and the Middle East Gulf. After a brief stint at MJLF, Chris started the US office for Navig8 Group, initially covering CPP and then Aframax and VLCC sectors in the Atlantic.

Since rejoining MJLF, Chris has focused his time on growing the clean/specialized desk, as well as helping build out the MJLF’s infrastructure across people, processes and technology.

Chris holds a BA from Denison University.  Chris enjoys traveling, fishing, skiing and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

John is the President Board Member of MJLF, a leading brokerage firm in the shipping industry.  John has 30+ years of experience in the shipping industry, and over his tenure at MJLF he has lead the build-out of the product desk, period requirements, sale and purchase, and new buildings verticals. In February 2018 John was appointed to be the company’s fourth President – with the mandate to rebuild the back office infrastructure and drive 25%+ growth per year.  John has been nominated to the Board of Directors of Wordscale Inc. and holds bachelor degree from St. Lawrence University.
